This week our first year students begin their first major design project as they begin design work on a CO2-powered Dragster.
Armed with a month's worth of sketching instruction and practice, each student will generate concept sketches for a CO2 Dragster and then construct 3D Isometric sketches. Their isometric sketches will give a realistic preview of their final dragster design.
The last step will be to produce working drawings that can be later transferred to a wood blank. This drawing technique is called Multi-view sketching and will continue to be very important to our students in their design projects.
Dragsters will be 3D modeled and refined over the course of the semester. Construction and testing will take place in the spring ending with races during the First Annual VP STEM Fair.
